Field Service Engineer
Field Service Engineers travel to client facilities throughout assigned regions to perform onsite calibration, preventative maintenance, and repair of laboratory instruments. This is a client-facing technical role that requires both instrument expertise and professional communication skills.
- Perform onsite calibration of pipettes, balances, thermometers, and other laboratory instruments at client facilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance and field repairs across all major instrument brands
- Complete calibration documentation accurately and in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- Apply and manage calibration ID tags and barcoded stickers for instrument tracking
- Communicate professionally with laboratory managers and QA personnel during site visits
- Manage territory scheduling, equipment, and travel logistics efficiently
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent technical experience
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation in a research, clinical, or manufacturing setting preferred
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, or ISO 17025 calibration requirements is a plus
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally (up to 80% travel depending on territory)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy
Metrologist
Metrologists perform precision measurements in our accredited laboratory, maintain and verify calibration reference standards, and ensure that all calibration data meets the technical requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This role is central to the integrity of our accreditation and the quality of our certificates.
- Perform calibration of pipettes, balances, thermometers, and humidity instruments in the laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025 standards
- Maintain, verify, and document laboratory reference standards and their NIST traceability
- Calculate and document measurement uncertainty for all calibration types within scope
- Review and approve calibration data before certificates are issued
- Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing programs, and accreditation assessments
- Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and escalate for corrective action as required
- B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a measurement science discipline
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and NIST traceability requirements
- Experience with measurement uncertainty analysis (GUM methodology preferred)
- Familiarity with calibration of gravimetric, volumetric, or temperature instruments preferred

Laboratory Success Coordinator
Laboratory Success Coordinators are the primary contact for our clients, managing calibration schedules, coordinating service logistics, handling quote requests, and ensuring that every laboratory we serve is kept current on instrument status and calibration due dates. This role bridges technical service and client relationship management.
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned client accounts, answering questions about calibration status, scheduling, and documentation
- Coordinate inbound mail-in instrument shipments and outbound returns, tracking each instrument through the service workflow
- Proactively notify clients of upcoming calibration due dates and schedule service accordingly
- Process quote requests and work orders in coordination with the technical team
- Ensure calibration certificates and reports are delivered to clients accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate instrument and client records in the service management system
- B.S. in a life science, chemistry, or related field preferred — strong science literacy required
- Prior experience in a laboratory, service coordination, or scientific customer service role preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional phone and email manner
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously
- Familiarity with laboratory quality systems (GMP, GLP, ISO 17025) is a plus
ISO 17025 Specialist
The ISO 17025 Specialist owns the quality management system that underpins Femto Scientific's accreditation. This role is responsible for maintaining all documented procedures, preparing for and managing accreditation assessments, training staff on quality requirements, and driving continuous improvement across the laboratory's quality program.
- Maintain and update the laboratory quality management system in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017
- Author, revise, and control all quality documents including SOPs, work instructions, and quality records
- Coordinate and lead internal quality audits; prepare corrective action reports
- Serve as the primary liaison with the accreditation body during assessments and surveillance visits
- Manage the laboratory's proficiency testing program and evaluate results against acceptance criteria
- Train laboratory staff on ISO 17025 requirements, document control, and quality procedures
- Track and disposition nonconforming work; maintain the corrective and preventive action log
- B.S. or higher in a scientific or engineering discipline
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with ISO/IEC 17025 in a calibration or testing laboratory
- Demonstrated experience managing accreditation audits and preparing documentation for assessors
- Strong knowledge of metrology concepts, traceability, and measurement uncertainty
- Lead auditor certification (ISO 17025 or ISO 9001) preferred
- Meticulous, process-oriented approach with the ability to train others effectively
